On Sunday, April 27th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., join us for the next Conservation workshop “The Water Bear: A Microscopic Look at a Unique Creature”
Discover the microscopic world of tardigrades, creatures renowned for their ability to withstand extreme conditions and whose claim to fame is being the only animal to have ever survived exposure to outer space! In this workshop we will discuss the basic anatomy and behaviors of various kinds of tardigrades. We will then examine some live samples under the microscope and try to find some samples of our own. Finally, we will learn about the research work being done by the Evolutionary Interactions of Life (EV.I.L.) lab at FIU and discuss how we may harness the tardigrade’s miraculous survival abilities for real world applications. The workshops are held at the Visitor Center Exhibit Room.
