1. Don’t over-schedule. Remember, it’s okay to say no. If your calendar can’t accommodate all your social demands, it’s fine to skip one—or all of them.

2. Take a walk. Hit the reset button by taking a trip around the block. Your mind and body will thank you as soon as you breathe in that fresh air.

3. See some lights. Hop in the car, turn on the holiday tunes, and take a neighborhood lights tour with your family. You can even do this in your pajamas!

4. Focus on gratitude. An attitude of gratitude sets the tone for those around you. Keep a gratitude journal, volunteer, donate items, or participate in acts of service.

5. Accept imperfection. The cookies may burn. The bow may be lopsided. You may not find that hard-to-find gift. Tell yourself it’s okay—and believe it. None of us are perfect, and some of the best memories come from those imperfect moments.

6. Set a budget. If your holiday tradition includes gift-giving, set a budget and stick to it. Not all gifts need to come from Amazon or a big box store. Why not create something personalized for your loved ones? It’s something they’ll cherish for years to come.

7. Maintain healthy eating habits. It’s easy to grab a cookie or brownie for a quick pick-me-up when sweet treats are everywhere, but try to fuel your body and mind with nutrient-rich foods first. Meal prep by chopping up raw veggies and fruit, or making cheese and meat boxes in advance—healthy options that are easy to grab and go.

8. Sleep. Don’t lose sight of how important a good night’s rest is, especially during the chaos of the holiday season. Cut back on late-night caffeine and screen time, which can disrupt your sleep schedule. Instead, prepare for rest by taking a hot bath, sipping caffeine-free tea, or reading a book.

9. Belly laugh. Let yourself laugh out loud. It’s a great way to ease stress. Our brain releases endorphins and produces serotonin when we laugh, giving us a greater sense of happiness.

10. Spend time with loved ones. After all, this is the greatest gift of all.
