Pencils, paper and glue sticks, oh my!
If you have school-age children, there’s a good chance you are looking at a lengthy list of school supplies you need to purchase before the first bell rings. Fortunately, there is some relief – sales tax relief, that is. This year, the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday in Florida is twice as long, spanning a full month from August 1-31. Shopping during this timeframe can render small to significant savings for your family by cutting out the sales tax.
Qualifying items exempt from sales tax during the holiday include
- learning aids and jigsaw puzzles selling for $30 or less
- most school supplies selling for $50 or less
- clothing, footwear and accessories selling for $100 or less
- and computers and accessories (when purchased for non-commercial and personal use) selling for $1,500 or less.
