At the Museum of Discovery and Science, that’s exactly what happens inside the HoloTheater, the first custom-built HoloTheater in the United States. This one-of-a-kind experience blends holographic technology, panoramic visuals and immersive audio to create a cinematic adventure that feels less like watching from a seat and more like being surrounded by the story.

Forget 3D glasses. The HoloTheater uses advanced projection technology to create stunning three-dimensional scenes that come to life right in front of the audience. With sweeping visuals, spatial sound and larger-than-life moments, the experience creates the illusion that characters, objects and environments are sharing the space with visitors.
Unlike a traditional movie theater, where the action stays confined to a screen, the HoloTheater is designed to fully immerse guests in the adventure. From the moment the lights dim, guests are surrounded by sights and sounds that spark curiosity, imagination and wonder.
The current experience, Dinosaur Discoveries: A Holographic Adventure, takes guests on a 25-minute journey through the prehistoric world, bringing dinosaurs and paleontological discoveries to life through immersive holographic technology. While dinosaurs currently roar inside the theater, the technology opens the door to a rotating lineup of stories that can transport audiences to different places, times and environments.
For families, the HoloTheater offers an experience that everyone can enjoy together. Children are captivated by the larger-than-life visuals, while parents appreciate how science, technology and storytelling come together in a meaningful and engaging way. The result is an attraction that entertains while encouraging questions and conversation long after the show ends.
The HoloTheater is the latest example of how the Museum of Discovery and Science continues to push the boundaries of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning. MODS is already recognized for offering one of Florida’s most unparalleled IMAX® experiences, with a GIANT screen, IMAX® with Laser projection, 15/70mm film capability and 12-channel sound. Now, the Museum is once again raising the bar with the first custom-built HoloTheater in the United States.
Known for its hands-on exhibits, live science demonstrations, animal encounters and interactive experiences, the Museum has long been a destination where curiosity takes center stage. This new experience brings cutting-edge innovation and imagination together in a format designed to engage guests of all ages.
The HoloTheater experience is included with the MODS Discovery Pass, which includes access to all Museum exhibits, live science demonstrations and an IMAX® documentary film. Guests select their HoloTheater experience and IMAX® film showtimes upon arrival at the Museum’s Box Office.
This summer, guests can also explore new Museum experiences, including Phase 1 of Build a Better World: The Future Begins With You, featuring the new Everglades Theater, Mangrove Mangal Climber and Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Coral Habitats; The Science of Guinness World Records; and four brand-new flight simulator experiences in the refreshed To Fly exhibit. Together, these experiences add even more opportunities for hands-on learning, creativity and family fun throughout the Museum.
