Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) recently announced finalists for the coveted 2025 Teacher of the Year award.
The following five finalists were recognized for exemplifying the highest standards of teaching excellence:
• Lillie deCastro, Magnet Coordinator, William T. McFatter Technical College and High School
• Matthew Feiler, Computer Science Teacher, West Broward High School
• Richard D. Lamarre, Science Teacher, Miramar High School
• Dr. Jennifer Mehu, First Grade Teacher, Park Lakes Elementary School
• Deanna Waters, Literacy Coach, Sawgrass Springs Middle School
Each finalist received a gift basket and surprise classroom visit by Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn as well as School Board members, District administrators and school leaders. Individuals were recognized for their outstanding dedication, innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student success.
“We are proud to recognize these outstanding educators for their dedication and passion for teaching,” BCPS Superintendent Dr. Hepburn stated in a press release. “Their tireless efforts and commitment to excellence make a lasting impact on our students’ lives.”
