Have a blast at these star-spangled community celebrations

Aventura 

Enjoy the annual fireworks display with great views from Country Club Drive and other areas. 9 pm, along the Don Soffer Exercise Trail, 305-466-8930 cityofaventura.com  

Boca Raton 

Put on your red, white and blue and head out for family activities and live music followed by a fireworks display. Free. 6:30-9: 30 pm, Spanish River Sports Complex, Countess De Hoernle Park, 1000 NW Spanish River Blvd., 561-393-7807 myboca.us  

Coral Springs

Join the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration with entertainment, family activities, food and a grand fireworks display at 9 pm. $3/parking. 6-10pm, Mullins Park, 10150 Ben Geiger Dr., 954-345-2200 coralsprings.org  

Davie 

Celebrate Independence Day with a bit of Old Florida. Step back in time with a 1930-1940s costume contest, music, and old-fashioned games. 9:30am-4pm, Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Rd., 954-473-2955 flamingogardens.org  

Join in the community celebration with a day of family fun featuring swimming and pool games from 10am-3pm at Pine Island Pool, 3800 SW 92 Ave., followed by arts and crafts for kids, live music, games and more from 4-9pm at Pine Island Park, 3801 Pine Island Rd. Fireworks at 9 pm. 954-797-1181 davie-fl.gov  

Experience one of the best spots from which to view numerous firework displays across Broward County. From Vista View Park’s hill, the highest man-made elevation in the county, you can see the fireworks from Davie, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Sunrise and possibly Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood when the weather is clear. $1.50/person before 7:30pm, $2/person after 7:30pm. 7:30-10pm, Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142 Ave., 954-357-8898 broward.org/parks 

Deerfield Beach 

Relax on the beach with family activities and refreshments. The fun continues into the evening with entertainment followed by fireworks at 9 pm. Noon-9pm, Main Beach Parking Lot, 149 SE 21 St., 954-480-4429 deerfield-beach.com  

Fort Lauderdale  

Gather on the beach for a day of family activities including music, beach games, contests, a kids zone, live entertainment, and a fireworks presentation off of A1A and Las Olas Boulevard. Fireworks begin at 9 pm. Free. Noon-9:30 pm, Fort Lauderdale Beach, A1A and Las Olas Blvd., 954-828-5363 fortlauderdale.gov  

Hallandale Beach

Enjoy a free party with children’s activities, face painting, a fire-breathing dragon, DJ music, entertainment and more. Fireworks show at 9 pm. 6-10pm, Gulfstream Park,

Hollywood

A hometown star-spangled celebration with music and fun for the whole family at beachside locations, followed by fireworks offshore at 9 pm. Free. 2-10pm, Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, along the beach, 954-921-3404 hollywoodfl.org 

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea 

A day of old-fashioned fun with a parade along El Mar Drive starting at 10 am, followed by family-friendly activities until 3 pm. Fireworks display at 9 pm. El Prado Park, 4500 El Mar Dr., lauderdalebythesea-fl.gov 

Margate  

Kick off the day with a parade starting at 9 am down Margate Boulevard. Evening celebration continues with live music at 6 pm and fireworks at 9 pm. Margate Boulevard and U.S. 441, 954-972-6458 margatefl.com

Miramar  

Community fun to mark Independence Day. 7-9pm, Miramar Regional Park,

Pembroke Pines 

Gather family and friends to enjoy music, food, and fireworks. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs. Free. 6-9pm, Pines Recreation Center Festival Grounds, Pines Boulevard just east of University Drive, 954-392-2116 ppines.com  

Plantation 

Begin celebrating at 9 am with a patriotic parade from the intersection of Broward Boulevard and NW 46 Avenue, traveling west to City Hall. Celebrate with evening activities at the ball fields, featuring live music and fireworks. Free. 7-9pm, Central Park, 9151 NW Second St., 954-452-2510 plantation.org 

Pompano Beach 

Gather at the beach to listen to a live band and DJ tunes followed by fireworks at 9 pm. 5-9pm, Pompano Beach Fishing Pier, 222 N. Pompano Beach Blvd., pompanobeachfl.gov  

Sunrise 

Floats will wind their way west along Sunset Strip from NW 12 Street to City Park, where the fun continues with free refreshments and kids’ entertainment. 9am-noon, 954-747-4600 sunrisefl.gov 

In the evening, join your neighbors for children’s activities, live music, and a fireworks display. Free. 4:30-9:30 pm, BB&T Center, One Panther Parkway, sunrisefl.gov  

Tamarac  

Grab blankets and lawn chairs for the city of Tamarac’s All-American Celebration featuring entertainment, a fun zone, live music, food trucks, games and more. Fireworks at 9 pm. 6-9:30pm, Tamarac Sports Complex, 9901 NW 77 St., 954-597-3620 tamarac.org 

Weston 

A hometown parade featuring local businesses, civic groups, schools, bands and organizations, with the theme United by Freedom. 10:30 am, Weston Town Center, Main Street, 954-389-4321 westonfl.org
