One of Miami’s most iconic family events, the Miami Book Fair, is entering a new chapter this year.
With the pandemic limiting social gatherings, Miami Dade College is transforming the event from a week-long celebration in downtown Miami to a free virtual event Nov. 15-22.
The new format will allow the fair to connect even more authors to their loyal fans and new readers through a digital format.
An incredibly diverse event, the Miami Book Fair will feature programs in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole for all ages, and represent genres from fiction, comics and poetry to politics, history, memoirs and more. It will also feature an online version of the fair’s popular Children’s Alley, providing fun learning activities for young readers.
Canadian poet, novelist and environmental activist Margaret Atwood (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) headlines this year’s growing list of more than 200 authors and moderators.
Science educator and TV host Bill Nye is also on the program, as well as YA powerhouse Maggie Stiefvater, “The Magicians” series author Lev Grossman, the Nebula Award-winning Jeff VanderMeer, actress and activist Natalie Portman, and many more.
Registration is open for the various programs included in the Miami Book Fair. Attendees can view the schedule and sign up to attend at MiamiBookFaironline.com.
