In celebration of National Poetry Month, the South Regional/Broward College Library Poetry Club is holding a contest, open for entries until Saturday, April 6. Contest participants of any age may submit one poem each, in any style, to compete for a prize and the opportunity to present their work at the South Regional/Broward College Library, 7300 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024.

The judges for the South Regional/BC Library Poetry Contest 2019 are poets Donna Greene and Gary Kay. Greene is a member of the Hollywood Education Advisory Committee and the Broward Reading Coalition, the volunteer poetry coordinator at South Broward High School, as well as a past winner of the contest. Dr. Kay is a retired Broward College professor whose poetry has been published in more than 20 journals.

Prizes for winning entries include Barnes and Noble gift cards: $35 for first place, $25 for second place and a $20 for third place, sponsored by the Friends of the South Regional/BC Library. All participants will read their poems at an award ceremony held in the auditorium from 6-7:30 PM on Tuesday, April 16th.
