Bookleggers Free Bookstore First Sunday Open

Bookleggers celebrates Open Sundays with drinks, bites and as always, free books Bookleggers gives donated books to everyone through creative programs, mobile outreach, and Miami’s first and only free bookstore. Starting August 9, 2026, the free bookstore will expand its roster of open days to include Sundays from 12-5 pm.

The organization is celebrating the first Sunday open with complimentary drinks, bites, and as always, free books. Anyone can join the festivities; an RSVP is appreciated.

Sorted and organized into sections for all ages and interests, donated books fill over 1,600 square feet to take on a new life, offered freely to the next reader.

Since launching in 2012, Bookleggers has circulated over 202,980 free books. Bookleggers’ vision is to create an educated and compassionate Miami in which books are protected and freely exchanged by all.

The organization is constantly working to expand book access. In March 2025, Bookleggers launched open Saturdays in conjunction with a monthly Storytime for Kids and saw a 73% increase in books given away from the previous year.

Weekly bookstore hours will be Tuesday-Sunday, 12-5pm, beginning August 9th. Bookleggers Traveling Book Trailer continues to take free books to parks and community events.
