Young At Art invites you to ArtCade, an original exhibition of artist-designed video games and playable interactive artworks! Experience artfully re-imagined classics and new video games designed by local and internationally acclaimed artists. Play your way through the new exhibition while learning how the arcades of the past have led to the modern video game evolution of today. The exhibition will feature the interactive digital artwork and video game technology of artist Samuel Lopez De Victoria; original aim and launch games by animator Christopher Ian Macfarlane; a role playing game by artist Hunter Jonakin; an interactive gumball machine sculpture that teaches the user about planting by artist Julian Pardo; and an interactive black light arcade room painted by widely recognized artist David Anasagasti. ArtCade visitors will participate in large screen video game tournaments, camouflage air hockey, color theory mini-golf and hands-free gaming. Independent game designers will submit their games for beta testing by exhibit visitors and receive their feedback. Inspired by the exhibit, visitors will get to design their own video game character and create original videos using iPad stop-motion animation. Workshops led by the artists will teach visitors about visual effects, creative use of technologies and how popular culture has manifested in the video game evolution. Entrance to ArtCade is included with admission to Young At Art Museum. Visitors can save on admission and enjoy ArtCade all summer with 2 for 1 Tuesdays, where is admission is buy one get one free every Tuesday from May 1st – Sept 30th and active duty military personnel and their families can enjoy free admission from May 18th – Sept 2nd through the Blue Star Museum Program. General admission is $14 per person; $12 for Broward County residents, seniors and children over age 1.
