Miami Dade College’s (MDC) will host its 20th Annual Community Health Fair at the Medical Campus on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., marking two decades of providing free, critical healthcare services to the community.
The Community Health Fair, free and open to the public, has become a cornerstone event for thousands of individuals and families across Miami-Dade County. Each year, the fair serves more than 2,000 community members, many of whom rely on this event as their only opportunity to receive preventive medical screenings and health education throughout the year.

These one-day events at the Deering Estate take place on the second Saturday of the month throughout the year and are perfect for individuals who are looking to volunteer for a few hours each month. Participants are provided with great family-friendly opportunities ranging from beautification and plantings to environmental stewardship and conservation, all while building community. Activities may include invasive plant removal, planting, mulching, and cleaning up litter in and around the Deering Estate. Volunteers must be 15 or older.

After departing from Deering Estate, a Biscayne National Park Ranger guides you on a journey through Biscayne Bay to see the iconic Cape Florida, Fowey Rocks, and Boca Chita lighthouses and learn about the history that surrounds them. You cut through the alluring Stiltsville and go to Boca Chita Key to get up close to Biscayne National Park’s iconic Boca Chita Lighthouse with a chance of climbing to the top of Boca Chita Lighthouse for a panoramic view of the Bay. Happening every other month starting Saturday, January 17, 2026 (7–9 PM), Creative Community Night invites you to wander our working studios, meet the artists, and take part in simple, low-pressure creative prompts that make it easy to talk to new people (even if you come solo). It’s less “walk through and look” and more “come in, make something, and belong.
Expect an easygoing evening of:
• Open studios artist conversations
• Hands-on, come-as-you-are creative activities (no experience needed)
• A welcoming space to slow down, connect, and build community through art

Enjoying the view of the moon & the stars from the Deering Estate front lawn is a magical experience. Bring your binoculars or telescope (BYOT), pack a picnic and chairs, blankets, and enjoy a relaxing evening with family and friends for this after-hours outdoor admission.
Picnic tables are available on a first come, first serve basis in the Royal Palm Grove. Guests are encouraged to bring battery operated lantern or flashlight (flames/candles not permitted). While the breezes from the bay are common, bugs and mosquitos are still possible; please come prepared (loose, long-sleeve shirt and pants suggested, bug repellant). Please note that the Museums are closed for this event.
Cost: $10 non-members. $5 for Deering Estate Foundation Members.

Take a Moonlight Kayak Tour through Biscayne Bay! These tours will depart from Charles’ Deering’s boat basin and paddle out towards Chicken Key, a seven-acre mangrove island and bird rookery approximately one mile off-shore.
Cost: $50 per person (members and non-members). Spaces are limited! Recommended for intermediate paddlers.
All kayaks are two seat / tandem kayaks. We recommend purchasing tickets in sets of two; single-registered kayakers will be paired with another single-registered kayaker.
Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable paddling clothing that can get wet, bug spray, snacks, and water. Bugs & mosquitos are very common, please come prepared. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Tour meets at the Visitor Center. Tickets online only.

Join us at Heiva Miami 2026 for a vibrant Polynesian festival! Enjoy island cuisine, crafts, live performances, dance classes, and ancestral sports. Don’t miss the Black Belt Paddler Challenge.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant traditions and cultural heritage of the Polynesian Islands at Heiva Miami 2026, taking place on Saturday, April 18 and 19, 2026, at the iconic Miami Marine Stadium. This full-day festival offers a rich blend of cultural experiences, from food and crafts to ancestral sports and live performances, celebrating the spirit of French Polynesia, Hawaii, New Zealand, and more. Festival activities begin at 9 a.m.
Savor island-inspired cuisine, including shrimp rice plates, poke, and shaved ice, while exploring arts and crafts like lei-making, jewelry design, Tahitian drumming, and basket weaving. Local vendors and sponsors will also be on-site, offering a variety of products and interactive exhibits.
The day’s entertainment features a live island music, DJ, musical guests, dance performances and competition, and free Polynesian dance classes, including hula and the high-energy ‘Ori Tahiti dance. Visitors can also participate in ancestral sports such as Coconut Tree Climbing Races (Tauma Haʻari), Fruit Carrying Races (Timau Ra’au), Stone Lifting (Amora’a ‘Ōfa’i) and Beach Wrestling (Taputo). Registration is required for these activities.
Simultaneously, the 3rd Annual Black Belt Paddler Challenge will take place at the adjacent rowing center, showcasing a thrilling multi-craft paddling race inspired by traditional competitions of Tahiti and Hawaii. Top athletes from around the globe will compete for the coveted Black Belt Paddler Title, adding an exciting element to the festivities.
Whether you’re learning to hula, cheering on competitors, or enjoying the flavors and sounds of the islands, Heiva Miami 2026 offers an unforgettable celebration of Polynesian culture for all ages.
