The L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center in Fort Lauderdale is celebrating its third anniversary, and the South Florida community is invited to join the ultimate Block Party on Saturday, May 10.

This exciting celebration is packed with a live DJ, family-friendly fun, delicious eats and treats from food trucks Kona Ice and Wingz on Wheelz 954, and interactive games and activities for everyone!

The fun does not stop there—cool off at our Pool Party featuring water games and refreshing poolside activities. It’s guaranteed to be a day filled with sun, music, and FUN!

Additionally, the Y will be hosting the following events leading up to the Block Party as part of the L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center’s third anniversary celebrations:

• Member Appreciation Day (Monday, May 5 @ 7 a.m. – Noon) – The Y will serve complimentary refreshments for members from. Other activities include special group exercise classes and a wellness fair.
• Provident Hospital Reunion (Tuesday, May 6 @ 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.) – Guests will come together in the Y’s Victory Black Box Theatre to honor the rich history and lasting impact of Provident Hospital.

As part of PAMM Free Second Saturdays, celebrate Haitian Heritage Month with a free day of art activities, music, and performances. Discover Haiti’s deep roots in South Florida, and its beautiful language, people, and culture.

Get creative with art activities that focus on self-exploration and investigate kinetic sculpture, inspired by the artwork of Miami-based, Haitian-born artist Morel Doucet. Explore the use of texture and color to convey identity by creating vibrant designs using silhouettes.

Enjoy performances by local Haitian dance performance group Tradisyon Lakou Lakay, Inc., who leverages Haitian performance arts while demystifying Haitian folkloric dance at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex.

For the rest of the day, you can explore the galleries, grab a meal at Verde, or sit back and enjoy the breeze on the waterfront terrace.

Admission is free all day. Art activities from 11am–3pm.

Immerse yourself in the global celebration of World Collage Day with collaboARTive’s special edition Collage and Connect. This unique hybrid event brings together artists from around the world for 90 minutes of creative exploration and artistic connection.

Join us on May 10th, 2025, either in-person ($15) at our Miami studios or virtually (free) from your creative space. This extended session offers a rare opportunity to engage with your creativity alongside a worldwide community of artists, sharing in the meditative practice of collage-making.

During our time together, we’ll explore creative techniques, share artistic inspiration, and enjoy the peaceful sounds of artistic creation. Whether working quietly or engaging in gentle discussion, each participant contributes to this global celebration of collage art.

collaboARTive continues its commitment to accessible creativity by offering optional $5 materials packets, delivered directly to you. These curated collections include vintage cards, postcards, and assorted papers to spark your imagination.

The session concludes with a show & tell, where participants can share their creations in a supportive, judgment-free environment. This is creative play at its finest – no rules, no pressure, just pure artistic expression.

Immerse yourself in Miami’s thriving art scene at collaboARTive’s 2025 Biennial, Quartet in 29 Parts, hosted at the prestigious Olga M. & Carlos A. Saladrigas Art Gallery at Belen Jesuit’s Ignatian Center for the Arts. This fourth iteration of the celebrated exhibition brings together 29 talented artists in a stunning display of creative excellence.

On May 16th, we have a special public meet-the-artists reception that uniquely coincides with the Belen Jesuit Student Final Art Show, creating an inspiring dialogue between established and emerging artists.
