Overture to Overtown: Busman’s Holiday at The Betsy Hotel
Celebrating Black Music Month
Join us for a soulful Sunday afternoon celebrating the rich heritage of Black music with live jazz performances from 11 AM to 4 PM on June 22nd at The Betsy Hotel.
The term “Busman’s Holiday” traditionally refers to spending your time off doing something similar to your work—but for jazz musicians, it’s pure joy. When professional players gather on their day off to play the music they love, magic happens. This event embodies that spirit: musicians coming together not for work, but for the pure love of jazz.
Experience five hours of free live performances featuring Miami’s finest jazz artists in the elegant atmosphere of The Betsy Hotel. From classic standards to contemporary interpretations, our lineup celebrates the profound impact of Black musicians on American jazz and the world.
Come for the music, stay for the atmosphere, and celebrate the artists who created America’s greatest art form.
The Betsy Hotel is a family-owned and operated luxury resort hotel located at1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139. For more information visit http://www.thebetsyhotel.com or call 305-760-6900

Vivo is a vibrant animated adventure that celebrates the power of music, love and cultural connection. The film follows Vivo, a music-loving kinkajou (a rainforest mammal affectionately known as a “honey bear”), who lives in Havana with his beloved owner and musical partner, Andrés. When fate intervenes, Vivo sets off on a journey from Cuba to Miami to deliver a love song that was never sung. Blending the rhythms of Caribbean culture with the colorful spirit of Miami, Vivo is both a joyful tribute to Latin musical traditions and a touching story about friendship, memory, and honoring those we’ve lost. It’s a heartwarming reminder that music can be a bridge between generations — and that it’s never too late to follow your own rhythm.
