Calling all teens!

You are invited to attend Lauderhill Towne Centre Library’s newest program for teens – Express Yourself! Empowering Teens with Art & Literacy

This free art class series will be offered on the second Tuesday of every month, beginning this Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 6 PM. Each month you will learn to use a different art medium to explore who you are guided by artist and educator Dr. Kimme Harris. Develop your voice and see the power in your own story—all through the lens of art and storytelling. All supplied are provided, just bring your creativity!

Teens will gain:

• A portfolio of creative work reflecting their personal growth.
• A chance to build literacy skills and foster creative expression through art and storytelling.
• Strengthened public speaking abilities and storytelling skills.
• A sense of community and empowerment through shared narratives.
• Tools for self-expression, emotional resilience, and confidence.

The Coral Springs Chapter of the Southern Handcraft Society will hold their 31st annual “Holiday Extravaganza” on September 11th from 4 pm – 8 pm; Friday, September 12th from 9 am – 8 pm and Saturday, September 13th from 9 am – 4 pm at La Quinta Inn and Suites, 3701 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065. Admission for the preview show on Thursday is $3.00. No charge for show on Friday and Saturday.

Celebrate the season by visiting the premier juried craft show with unique, handcrafted Fall, Halloween, Christmas and Hanukkah gifts and ornaments, jewelry, greeting cards, beach items, home décor, fabric crafts, and artwork.

Ann Storck Center – a Fort Lauderdale-based private nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities – will host a free seminar entitled, “Arlene Lakin’s Clarifying Concepts: Educate Yourself on a Life with Developmental Disabilities,” with a panel of community experts on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ann Storck Center Adult Day Training Building.
During the free seminar, the Ann Storck Center team and a panel of community experts will discuss navigating the needs of children with developmental disabilities. Topics include:

Guardianship in-and-outs
Agency for Persons with Disabilities
Broward County School Board
Vocational Rehabilitation
Broward County Parks and Recreation

Guests in attendance will enjoy delicious refreshments and complimentary Ann Storck Center merchandise.

The Arlene Lakin Advocacy Fund was established to continue to educate families with disabled children and adults to become better advocates. Ann Storck Center’s commitment is to an ongoing, innovative and accessible educational platform to assist with navigating the world of developmental disabilities.

Kick off the holiday season early with Coral Springs Craft Guild’s 46th annual Craft Show and Holiday Boutique on Friday, September 26th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 27th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at La Quinta Inn, 3701 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065.

Friday night’s “Preview Sale” charges $3 or 3 canned goods which will be donated to a local Food Bank. Saturday there is NO entry fee!
