Kids will learn more about sculptor Marisol who is well known for her life-size sculptures and association with the 1960s Pop Art movement. Kids will make their own colorful mini figures inspired by her work.

You are invited to attend Lauderhill Towne Centre Library’s newest program for teens – Express Yourself! Empowering Teens with Art & Literacy
This free art class series will be offered on the second Tuesday of every month, beginning this Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 6 PM. Each month you will learn to use a different art medium to explore who you are guided by artist and educator Dr. Kimme Harris. Develop your voice and see the power in your own story—all through the lens of art and storytelling. All supplied are provided, just bring your creativity!
Teens will gain:
• A portfolio of creative work reflecting their personal growth.
• A chance to build literacy skills and foster creative expression through art and storytelling.
• Strengthened public speaking abilities and storytelling skills.
• A sense of community and empowerment through shared narratives.
• Tools for self-expression, emotional resilience, and confidence.

This summer join the NSU Art Museum Docent Speakers Bureau for an illustrated talk focused on the Theory of Color and History of Art in celebration of “Color Our World/ Colorea Nuestro Mundo”.
Impressionism: How a group of young French artists broke with tradition and revolutionized the use of color and brush work, an influence that continues to today. This program is presented by Barbara Krakower, a veteran educator and Carol Hornig, a USAID diplomat for many years and visiting professor of international development at the U.S. Army War College. The NSU Art Musuem Docent Speakers Bureau makes art come alive in the community. The Bureau brings lively and informative art history programs to groups of all sizes, including civic organizations, libraries, cultural clubs, and residential communities.
