Did you know? The Stanley Cup has had many, many adventures. The tradition of The Cup traveling the globe dates back to 1995. Since then, the 37-pound trophy has visited places near and far.
The championship-winning Cats got their turn to tour, and over the summer toted the trophy everywhere from the beach to the Boys & Girls Club to Bennett Elementary School where local kids got to meet players and take a close look at the trophy. The Cup was presented by players in other ways too. Sam Bennett shared a bowl of Captain Crunch out of the Stanley Cup with his dad, Aleksander Barkov took the trophy to his hometown in Finland, and Matthew Tkachuk made stops at his elementary school in St. Louis, the St. Louis Children’s Hospital and local police and fire departments.
The new hockey season starts this month with a Florida Panthers home opener against the Boston Bruins at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on October 8. This season’s theme nights include 90s Night, Star Wars Night, and a Kids Day.
